"A Good Dog", founded by dog obedience instructor, Tan Teck Woon, is unique among its peers. Unlike other dog training establishments whereby the trainer focuses on training the dog for the owner, "A Good Dog" specializes in instructing dog owners in the art of training their dogs and solving dog behavioural problems. Dog owners learn to establish a proper relationship between themselves and their dogs and to communicate in a way that their dogs understand. They also learn how to solve any problem behaviours that their dogs have, for example, jumping, chewing, barking and biting. Even after the course, dog owners will be able to continue training their dogs by themselves confidently, and with exceptionally good results.
"Most people want a dog that they can enjoy and be proud of, and can be considered as a good member of the family. However, a good dog rarely comes by chance, but by training," said owner and training director Tan Teck Woon. "On one end of the continuum of dog training methods, we have correction based training. On the other end, we have totally positive training. We believe in balanced training, which embraces positive motivation, appropriate rewards and knowledgeable use of aversives and corrections. With a balanced approach and an open minded perspective, we are able to apply the most suitable techniques, all on an individual, as needed basis. The training methods are tailored to both the dog and the owner, so as to produce the most reliable and optimal result, and at the same time, to make the training an enjoyable experience for everyone involved."
Teck Woon is an Accredited Dog Obedience Instructor with the Australian Association of Professional Dog Trainers, the leading voice for professional dog trainers. He is a graduate of the Certified Instructor Course in Dog Training offered by the award winning Command Dog Training School, one of the largest and most successful professional dog training schools in Melbourne.
"Do you want a good dog that you can take with you anywhere, and know that he'll listen to you every time?" Teck Woon said. "Just as we expect our children to attend school and learn manners, so training is school for our canine friends. Training is the best gift to your dog as it provides the dog the practical skills to live a long, happy life together with us."

" Training does not limit a dog, training frees a dog. My dog is not limited because she does what I tell her. She is free: free to ride with me, free to walk with me, free to meet people, free to run off lead in the park, free to play with other dogs. The untrained dog is 'free' to sit in the backyard all by itself. " - Sue Ailsby |
